[Double-post on purpose]

The above post was written in Firefox 3, and I could see all the little Apples, but now, when I'm back in FF2, this is how it looks:

Well, you can choose different fonts when posting:
Times New Roman 
Georgia 
Lucida Console 
Tahoma 
Courier New 

And, at least with Firefox 2 and earlier, you were only able to see the Apple when it was "written in" certain fonts, like Lucida...

Actually, in my FF2, I don't see an Apple for *any* of those.... :(

EDIT: Actually, I don't seem to *have* Lucida Console (I have most of the rest of the family, though). It's replacing it with the handwriting / script version....

Both Safari and FF3, sees all the Apples, both in the original post, and even in your reply...

Safari:

FF3:

So, I guess FF2 just is less forgiving when it comes to charsets... ;)

Odd, because using Camino as well, I get this effect:

View attachment 66494

That's because Camino is based on the same rendering core as Firefox.

"⇧⌥K" produces the Apple logo on an American keyboard, for all you Euros that don't have an 'option' key, and don't understand what we're talking about. Of course, the board software doesn't support that, so this only works in non-web programs. (It will insert the symbol, but forums.macrumors.com doesn't like it.)

(Yeah, this post won't look right if you don't have Lucida Grande Regular on your computer, or are using Firefox.)

One more thing...

Quick comment on the new smiley. Nice one, but...

Could the graphic be adjusted by 3-5 pixels upwards so that it sits more neatly on the baseline of the line of type, rather than below like this? :apple:

Just a suggestion from a type-pedant. :)

Edit: OK, forget it. It would have be a lot smaller I see as the line spacing is quite tight as displayed.
