sticky keys not working with studio display

hi
my setup was MacBook pro magic keyboard mouse and studio display

I use sticky keys all worked well with MacBook lid closed.

just got a new m2 MacBook Air. but now sticky works on MacBook and magic keyboard with lid open when I close it and display kicks in sticky keys won't work any more
symbol flashes up and disapears

tried rebooting, and redoing bluetooth

any ideas

thought I had fixed it by running 'clean my Mac' clearing caches. all worked well but come back today and same issue again
