Ok, thanks :) I wasn't aware of the possibility to check status in stores online. I am leaning towards gold so that sounds good.

We will arrive in Orlando on Friday night, I will check the website on Saturday morning before we drive down to Miami Beach later on the day. Looks like there are quite a few stores we can easily drive by on the way down there also. We will also be returning home from Orlando in the morning next Saturday, so ordering one in the Orlando area this weekend and picking it up when we leave next weekend might be an option too. I agree that ordering for store pickup is probably a good idea if available.

Edit: Looks like only the iPhone 6 might be available, no iPhone 6 Plus at all available from what I can see... :-(

After a short conversation with one of the employees in the Apple Store in Waterside Shops in Naples on Thursday, I decided not to buy an iPhone in the US. According to him, it is kind of a gamble whether a contract-free phone bought in the US will work in Norway (Europe?) or not, and therefore he recommended me to rather by an unlocked phone here in Norway.

Ordering a iPhone 6 Plus gold today, should be delivered in a few weeks I hope.

If you get the unlocked version (just ask for it) its no gamble at all. I've looked at all the Norwegian wireless providers and all their LTE bands align with the US iPhone 6's, doesn't matter the model they all support the proper FDD LTE bands.

Over 50 people in two lines at my local Apple store. Hard to believe they are still lining up. With CHristmas coming, I doubt it will get much better unless Apple has a large slug of iPhone coming..

Do the Apple stores receive shipment every day? Are people lining up every morning in anticipation of new stock?

I ordered online on November 7th and I'm still waiting for mine to ship. I've checked with a local reseller since that date and they still haven't received any stock of the model/size I want (gold + 128).

I noticed the shipping times are a bit better on the Apple website, except the 128's are still at 3-4 weeks shipping.

Waiting sucks.

The best thing to do is order online from a carrier or Apple. Standing in line at the launch is really bad because not only do you risk stock finishing, you risk theft, deal with rowdy people, inclement weather potential, etc. As for South Florida, Aventura, the Galleria location in Ft. Lauderdale, and Lincoln Road are always busy. Each time I go to either, people are very pushy and it's always packed with people trying items on display. I am still waiting on a refund for my GS5, so I will probably need to wait a month or so to get my iPhone 6.

Ok, I was told that the unlocked version is not for sale in the US yet. Anyway; no stores had the Plus 64 GB in stock last week and now I am back in Norway.

A friend of mine said he heard that the reason there's so little stock in the US is because Apple was focusing on making and sending iPhone's to China.... but take that with a grain of salt. :D
