Just a heads up that because of the VISA/Mastercard security breach, WalMart's billing department will call you before approving the order if you used a VISA or Mastercard to purchase the deal.

I ordered yesterday but just got a call from them this morning. After confirming the purchase, the email arrived with the card code a few minutes later.

Walmart's fraud department is actually pretty annoying - it's totally random as to when they'll call you. In the past 3-4 months, I've bought this deal a handful of times. Last time I purchased from Walmart, I had to deal with the fraud department (for one lousy $50 card). I missed their initial call, so ended up not getting my code for 3 days.

This time around, no fraud department, but I did have to wait over 12 hours to receive my code. I used a Visa card to make my purchase.

I've read of some people getting their code within minutes, others having to wait a day. My email confirmation said to wait until today - so I would give it at least 24 hours before contacting them...

Yeah, probably not all VISA/Mastercard folks. I'll edit my previous post. Lots of folks out there had their orders held up like mine and when I dug around trying to find out why, that was the reason that kept popping up.

The cynical part of me was thinking that they did this because they oversold and didn't want to follow through on the purchases.

[edit] Not all VISA/Mastercard folks are affected. This is the reason that I saw from various shopping forums posting the same deal, but it may just be Walmart's discretion.

My Visa went threw without a delay.

It might be because my bank uses "Verified By Visa".
 
Oops. My order just got cancelled. I got the cancellation email. I paid via PayPal. This is the SECOND time Walmart pulls this crap on iTunes cards.... :mad:

Got mine last night ~11pm or so.

Already got my free $10 worth of apps :D
 
Disappointed. Ordered mine 3 hrs ago and still have not received the code. Hope I get it tomorrow morning. Going on a trip in 2 days and was gona use the card to download some TV episodes. No clue how long HD episodes take to download.

Depends in your connection. I've done it in 29 minutes but that may not be good. Oh and that was a movie.

I ordered one, then my SO wanted one so 4 hours later I ordered another. This was at 6:45pm yesterday. It's now 11pm over 24 hours later and while I have one code from the first order the 2nd is stuck in limbo.

I called Walmart and they said their financial department has a hold on it while they validate my information with my credit card issuer. I called American Express who told me they know nothing about it and that they approved the transaction and its currently pending.

Not sure what's going on but its really odd that I get one code within 15 minutes of ordering then 4 hours later order another and I still have no code but there is a charge on my Amex card for it.

No ETA, no code, but I do have a fancy $40 charge on my Amex from a store that is holding my code hostage. If I don't get the code by tomorrow at 7pm I'm going to call Amex and dispute the charge.

Pretty poor customer service if you ask me, they would have never told me anything if I didn't initiate a call. Never got an email about it being delayed, nothing. Saving $10 really isn't worth this much hassle, I'll never buy from Walmart.com again.

OMG....you have to take a deep breath.....so you don't have the code for 24 hours. Is it the end of the world? Seriously, you're going to dispute the charges? Did you have that $50 burning a hole in your iTunes account so bad that you needed the code YESTERDAY?

Chill people....you'll get the code. If Walmart's spot checking credit cards it's not that bad after a known big breach....what if they didn't verify and you got charged for two iTunes cards when you ordered none? You'd be all over their case for not verifying.

I agree with you. I doubt I'll take advantage of another deal like this. I thought it was gona be a quick and hassle free way to save some money but the time I'll spend on hold with them will likely make this not worth it.
 
Got several emails. The last one containing the codes took several hours.
 
48 hours and nothing. I received a voice mail message from the Walmart billing department today saying I needed to call in and verify that I am actually the person who made the purchase. Their billing department is currently closed for the day so I called the Walmart main number. I was told they are having large amounts of fraudulent purchases of exactly this gift card. There's nothing the main Walmart number can do for me, I must call the billing department back again when they're open tomorrow.

Just a heads up for anyone currently delayed in getting their card. You may end up in phone call hell trying to get this purchase completed. In the future I will not be trying anymore of these offers. Not worth the hassle just to save a couple bucks.
 
All the posts about delays and such made me glad I did an impulse buy at Target in the store the other day for $60 worth of cards for $51. Yeah, it was a couple of bucks more, but instant gratification!
 
Bought another $80 worth. I always get these deals, I swear I spent $400 on iTunes credit in the last 6 months! But I also get all my music and apps via iTunes so it's worth it (and some of that credit goes to my wife's account as well), and since I only get it on special it's like I buy everything at 20% off (plus 1% cash back on my credit card).

I agree with you. I doubt I'll take advantage of another deal like this. I thought it was gona be a quick and hassle free way to save some money but the time I'll spend on hold with them will likely make this not worth it.

I called this number 1-800-Walmart (1-800-925-6278)

I got a call from their finance department today and I explained while I didn't mind waiting it was the fact that nothing was said to me about the delay that really irritated me. It was bad customer service. Once I hung up it was 10 or 15 minutes and I had the code in my email.

She apologized and gave me a $15 credit on walmart.com to which I went back and got another $50 code for $25. That code came to me within 10 minutes.

My issue wasn't so much the waiting as was the being left in the dark. I understand stores want to prevent fraud and gift cards are probably a popular purchase with stolen credit cards but they need to make their customers more aware of whats going on.
