I still can't pick between the iPhone X and iPhone 8 plus .... Cant decide if I'm willing to give up home button and Touch ID for Face Id and not a fan of the notch. The features also seem so close and the 8 plus is 260 cheaper here in Canada any one else havering a hard time choosing between them.

Honestly i still have no clue what im doing, i think it all depends what you're upgrading from.... I have a 7 plus and i think its stupid if i upgrade to the 8 Plus but at the same time im not 100% convinced on X

That my exact problem too I have a 7 plus but not convinced of the iPhone x a with face I'd and also like s big phone and the iPhone X is about the size of the regular iPhone wish there was a X plus

I'm going for the X mainly for the beautiful Oled display which imo is a big upgrade from LCD. I also like how big the screen is with a much smaller footprint than the 8 plus which makes the X much more 1 handed friendly. Also, the notch doesn't bother me at all.

I’m upgrading from a 7 Plus to an 8 Plus. I couldn’t justify the extra IUP payments for my 7 Plus while I waited for the X to arrive in November or December or later. I’m looking forward to the 8 Plus and then upgrading to whatever revision of the X comes around next September when all of the bugs are worked out and the notch is (hopefully) smaller.

If the X wasn't an option this year then I would have had no issue ordering an 8.

The main thing I don't want to do is buy an 8 now and then convince myself to buy an X in 6 months.

In 6 months you might as well wait for X2

Face ID will be replacing touch in all the future phones. Might as well get started on it

ask myself * Can i afford the x?

*baby on the way....

Take whatever you think you’re going to spend on baby and double it. That’s closer to reality.

I’ve said this before, but I think it sums up my feelings well:

I view the iPhone X as the iOS counterpart of the 12" MacBook.

The MacBook was super expensive for what it was, but was the new kid on the block that brought all kinds of innovations (new keyboard, ultra thin design, Force Touch) that were eventually brought to the remaining line.

The iPhone X is the new cutting edge product that is substantially more expensive just for the sake of being new. In time it will be refined and it's innovations will flow to the rest of the line. I couldn't justify spending the money not the first generation MacBook and I can't on this first generation product either.

People need to realize that they will be making a whole lot more screen "selections " in error on the X. No bezels means not much to hold onto in landscape. This is why Samsung put a bit of bezel at the bottom & top of their S8...

That's my current dilemma...I'm somewhere in the middle as well. I ordered the iPhone 8 in Gold and I currently have a 7 plus. I like the bigger screen of the plus but I hate how big the phone is. It is entirely too uncomfortable for me to hold. The X seems like the perfect solution to this problem but idk if I'd be better off holding onto my 8 for a year or just going for the X.

I am currently using my old 6s just to see how I feel about the smaller screen coming from the plus and I love how comfortable the phone fits into my tiny hands. I just wish the camera of the 8 had portrait mode then I would definitely be sold on it. Might just be something I have to give up in order to have comfortability.

I was holding out for the iPhone X, but the price here (NZD $2,100 for the 256gb model) was just insane. Plus I'm not too fond of the notch. So I opted for the new gold iPhone 8 Plus. I've never owned a "plus" model so even though its an old form factor, the dual cameras and new size are a big enough jump for me to get excited about!

Purchase what you can afford and if you purchase a device that you're not content with, you have 14 days to return it.

I would go for the x but the unknown for when we would even get one is my worry due to my upgrade being due end of September. I will not wait till December January to get one which I think is a strong reality.

Then it appears that you're not ready to buy either. Or others suggested...try before buy.

I can't decide either, X or 8 plus. I love the screen of my current 6S plus but hate the size of the phone. I thought the X would be perfect for me but after seeing it is virtually the same width as the 6, I am very doubtful. Why couldn't Apple have made the X with the same screen aspect ratio and size of the plus? I am really not a fan of tall narrow screens at all.

Same. I don't even know because X is so tempting but the price is freaking high that I am bargaining to myself that if I get an X, I will have to skip the next year's model. :p

While I should push you away from the X to help availability, for myself I cannot see not choosing the X. I don't need to buy another iPhone like the last few iPhones with some bumped specs. I want to try something with a completely new feel.

IMO the X will likely be more future proof if you want to get the most value by keeping it longer. I'll probably be upgrading my 6 to an X but there's always a fear that apple will backtrack on design a year or two later.
