I reserved a 32GB iPhone 4 for in-store pickup on the 24th since the online option wasn't functioning.

So now I am guaranteed to get one on the 24th but do I still have to wait in the (assumed) horrendous lines?

depends on where you are and what time you go but yes count on a line.

When you do a first day order, you have to join the party line! Luckily, the "reserved line goes quicker than does the one for the nimrods who didn't reserve...

Don't they have to give iPhones to the people with the pre orders first?

I pre ordered my phone at a best buy mobile and they are going to make an appointment the day before the release of the iphone, so I can just walk in and pick it up.

I'm the first person who pre ordered at the best buy mobile in the mall. I arrived 15 minutes before they opened. I think most people don't know that best buy mobile is accepting pre orders too.

When I reserved one last year, they had a separate line for people who reserved iPhones and I was told the phone would be held for me until the end of the day.

At the Ann Arbor Apple Store last summer, they had us split into 2 lines: preorder and no preorder. I believe they just had a certain number of devices per group... didn't hear anything about them actually holding the phones for the people who preordered.

I plan to get there early to make sure I get my iPhone 4 on launch day.

According to the e-mail I got from Apple, it says that they'll hold my reserved iPhone 4 until close of business that day.

That being said, I don't plan on giving anyone the option of selling mine to someone else; I'll be there when they open. :D
