This cancer patient just had a great brain MRI & CT scans so I went for it and ordered an iPhone XR to replace my aging 6S Plus but am now considering iPads. I have an Air 2 which still works but might like a Pro so I can pass this one down to my son. Hoping for Black Friday deals on older models. A 10.5 inch screen seems sweet to me.

It is pretty sweet. I think you will be very happy with it. I am sure you will be able to get many great deals on one since the new models are coming out in a couple weeks. Either thru the Apple refurbished store online or thru other retailers. Congrats on your scans! Treat yourself! You deserve it! I donated a kidney to my bro recently, and we celebrate and treat ourselves whenever possible. Enjoy!

All the best on the health front. Sounds like everything’s going well.

Myself, I’m looking forward to the new regular iPad, 7th generation I guess. Assuming there will be one. Maybe they’ll up base storage to 64gb, but hopefully not price.

Another vote in the ‘Would sell you my 10.5”’ column. It really is amazing, but I’ve got a strong feeling that the new Pros will be completely irresistible to me.

Sentiment on the health seconded - I have the 2nd gen 12.9 and the variable refresh rate makes this iPad a joy to use - any deal on a 10.5 will be worth going for. You will love it and it will be quite an upgrade from your Air.

I bought and returned the 12.9 both gens once a piece, i love them and want one but keep on finding it too large to use, so i'm hoping the 11" will be the sweet spot

I feel the same way. Although keep in mind, the new 12.9” will actually be a lot smaller cause of the slimming bezels. I was and still am pretty much sold on the 11” as well...but I wanna see how much more portable the upcoming 12.9” will be now before I decide for sure.

When I was first diagnosed with cancer I bought myself a 2014 MacBook Pro from micro center for dirt cheap, even put AppleCare on it...LOL, I outlived both warrenties, my Air 2 is getting up there in age 2.

It would seem living to see the next release is keeping me going :)

Having second thoughts on the XR, my 6S Plus still works smoothly though I want to take it to Apple & get the cheap battery replacement. I use my phone daily but $750 plus tax plus glass screen protector, plus case seems a lot to spend when I actually use my iPad more...thinking of canceling my preorder

I replaced my iPhone6 it's power socket in phone was badly worn and the plug no longer could charge it, i looked at the new X phones and their $1000 price and went with the older iPhone8Plus it's been just great gives me all i had with my 6 just a lot better quality and speed also i bought a Samsung wireless charger no more plugging in to charge.

Saving $300 by going with the 8Pluss i could justify upgrading my iPad4 to a 2018 iPadPro, i find it a really quality in build and a great screen, along with being much faster.

Ended up keeping my preorder, husband says the red phone looks cool & this phone is 4 generations behind at this point. I use the phone a lot daily so it will be nice to get a new one.

Now to talk my son into a 6S Plus that has been gently used by his mom. He’s an android guy but has expressed interest in getting an iPad so he might go for it. The 6S has a nice screen and more storage than his old HTC, if he gets it & my Air 2 he’ll be set for a bit & get a nice introduction to Apple

The first question to ask is what would you do with a Pro. I mean I can understand thinking about getting a new iPad cause the Air 2 is getting a tad long in the tooth and the battery is likely getting to the point of being shot. But why a Pro over a Mini or even the Spring 2018 iPad which is pretty much the same screen size as the 10.5 and has Pencil support.

What do you want to do with this iPad that would need the extra cost.

@Geekbabe congrats on the great scan and health news.

Whatever you choose iPad-wise will be a nice upgrade. I am sure you’ll see some great discounts for the 10.5 Pro around Black Friday. I kind of regret going with the 12.9 last year, sure the extra screen space was great for drawing and pdf markup, but when I fiddled with the 10.5 this past May, I realized when it comes to iPad Pros smaller is better for me.

Also congrats on your XR.

If i had bought my iPadpro from Best Buy and not from the Apple Store, today i could have price matched it and got $100 back, but i was in a hurry to get a new iPad and have had a few problems with Best Buy in past.
But i think all sellers of the older iPadPros will be offering deals to get them out the door before Apple lets the 2019 iPads out for sale in November.

I kind of live at the hospital & doctor appointments, having the better screen is important to me & the pencil will let me use my adult coloring book apps. I have greatly enjoyed my Air 2 & suspect I will enjoy a 10.5 inch pro even more.

Nice Mom!
He’s a really great son :) I will take the 6S Plus to Apple, get the battery replaced. If son wants it, I will get him a handsome new case & earbuds. If not I will sell it & put the $ towards an Android for him.
