Hi, im having trouble getting help, i have a Dlink wi-fi router, and at first it connected no troubles, then suddenly it stopped working so i cant get onto the net. it says it is connected then when i go to a website it says "safari can't open the page because it can't find the server."

any suggestoins? i tried putting in some settings into the details of the wi-fi settings under DLINK but nothing worked, and i tried the 'forget me' button and then reconnected and nothing happened either....

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it work with other wi-fi connections? Have you tried hard booting the phone?

Mac wifi help in Windows Environment

I have a Windows network with a wireless and wired setup. I have one teacher with a MAC laptop. I use mac filtering in my wireless setup. How do I get the MAC address from the laptop to put in the filtering?

System Preferences/Network/Airport/ then you will see "Airport ID".

And by the way, a Macintosh is a "Mac", and only "MAC" address is capitalized! :D

I have been keeping a tally of coffee stores with free WiFi that the iPhone works with , and does not work with.

Based on the 11 coffee stores I sampled , the iPhone has about a 45% incompatibility with Coffee stores free WiFi setup in my area . In all cases , my PC laptop had not problem connecting to the WiFi network that the IPhone had a problem with.

In all these cases , these are unsecured WiFi networks , in all cases it found the WiFi network , and in all case it had no problem connecting to any of them. In all cases the WiFi single was strong. But when using Safari , it could not find the server. In some cases by toggling the Off/On setting of WiFi , I got it to work for a few seconds , but then it stopped working.

None of the software updates have resolved this.

I sometimes have this issue too... Kinda glad to find out I'm not the only one. I usually have full wifi signal on my iPhone in my apartment, but occasionally when I go to load safari it will load the first page I go to, then the wifi signal dies down one bar at a time usually, until it loses all the wifi bars and then Safari just basically stops. I'll sit there and fidget a bit and resetting my router usually fixes it, but it's only a temporary fix. It may or may not connect the next time.

I have a Netgear router, WRG54G v4 I think it is. You guys know the one I'm talkin about. I think. It's a popular one. :D

I can't figure out if this is a problem with the iPhone or an issue with the router. It was a cheap one after all... and I have a lot of wifi signals in the area (all locked pretty much though). Might this be an interference issue?

Last thing to note is that I have not had this issue with my iPhone with any other wifi connection whether it be a hotspot or a family or friends house. This just happens at my place, go figure.

I'm savvy but not an expert on this; Is there a way to more solidly connect my iPhone to this router? Like using a mac address or something? (I think that's what it's called that I'm thinking of...) :p
