So Greedy Tim doesn’t green light the Back to School. At the same time, he hinted price increases. Hope he is not increasing the prices before the Back to School promotion.

This year purchase decision is difficult as there is a rumor about possible release of new MacBook Pro Ultra in September and we don’t know the amount of price increase in the current models and the Ultra.

Haven’t heard any predictions from Mr. Onion Head yet.

MacBook Air 13/15 and Neo are backordered a few days up to a few weeks. Apple is in no rush to further discount Macs.

Ahem
Tim Cook Says Apple Price Increases Are 'Unavoidable' Due to Memory Costs

Correct me if I'm wrong, the back to school promotions are not price based, but rather you get either a gift card as in prior years, or this past year some sort of accessory.

Are you waiting until the fall to buy? If so, it probably doesn't matter when the promotion starts, but rather when it ends

I have a hard time in deciding. If gift card, I am more inclined to buy when the Back to School promotion is up. Most likely they just offer accessories that most users already have.

Let's back the trolley up a bit.

If you're graduating high school, and need a laptop for college, one could make the argument that a good segment of those students do not have the depth and breadth of accessories with that perspective, getting some additional apple products over a gift card can make sense.

The education discount and the back to school promotion is targeted towards, students, faculty, and parents of students. don't forget, Apple now requires the potential edu customer to be verified by a third party.

Apple largely turned a blind eye towards people using and abusing the edu discount in the past, but that's no longer the case. The target audience of the back to school promotion is students, not us. We've been in the workforce of a long time, and so offering accessories doesn't mean as much to us, as it would for a recently graduated high school student.

I finally just broke down and bought a MacBook for my daughter yesterday. I really think the chip and memory shortages might kill it. If it does happen I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s after a price increase. Although knowing my luck it will start tomorrow. 😀

Yes, it was updated to a kind-of summer theme earlier this morning but why they did not add the BTS promotion is a mystery. I contacted Apple this morning but the guy had no idea.

So sad to hear that. Sinner Tim was driving me so crazy that I ordered yesterday.
I saw that amazon still has it at the same price as it was before on the education website so im getting it on there instead and luckily the AirPods I wanted are on sale too for prime day

I don't know if Apple has increased the cost of AppleCare. Maybe better to get it as well.
