iPhone 12 STILL no landscape FaceID?

Overall, I’m really impressed with the iPhone 12 line. I believe it exceeded expectations, and I’m excited for my preorder. I can even forgive the fact that it doesn’t have the TouchID side button. But this is bothering me...

As far as I can tell, FaceID still only works in portrait on iPhone 12. It doesn’t make sense to me that the iPhone is falling years behind the iPad in terms of biometrics. In this aspect, I am disappointed.

I just tested it, and it is indeed still portrait-only.
