Northern VA
Was just at the Tyson’s Corner Mall Apple store in Northern VA getting a tempered glass screen protector put on my XS Max and not only was the store packed, but there were still people in line waiting to buy an iPhone at 4pm. So I dunno about when people say demand is lower this year. Or maybe it’s just this area.

The Tyson’s store was the first Apple store in the country. Kinda nice living near the very first store.

Here in Miami lines at all stores with tourist with luggage’s. Every year same thing. Buy as many on retail and go back to their country and flip. In other parts of the world these phones cost more.

That’s crazy. I would never do that. I would either wait a little longer to have them ship me a phone. Or try another store. When I mailed back the phone shipped to me. Instead of doing what these ppl did. I just checked all the different local stores in my area. I did an in store pickup at Best Buy. And was in and out within minutes. But I couldn’t see myself waiting in line like that.

Maybe that’s the line to return their new iPhones?

I walked into my Apple store today and no lines. Also went past 2 Verizon and 1 ATT store and no lines.

I think people are missing one of the biggest reasons behind why lines weren’t as long this year. It’s pretty simple in my opinion. Most scalpers in past years were from China, because of the huge demand there. This year Apple produced a version specifically for China, with the dual physical SIMs. No one in China really wants the US version. So scalper profits have dried up pretty quickly. No sense getting in line as a result.

Apple creates some of the lines as well. For example I went to an Apple store tonight to check out an XS Max in person. Prior to going I noticed there was plenty of stock in the app but you still needed to select a pickup time. I didn’t buy one as I just wanted to test it out.

The store was not crowded when I got there. It was a line of about 8-12 people in the corner waiting to buy an iPhone they reserved.

They can’t anticipate how many people will reserve so I get not letting a million people come in at random times and take up all the reps. The store was dead though so seemed odd to have them waiting like that. Seemed to be more for looks but I don’t know. I went later so maybe it was dying down.

Anyway, the camera did look nice on the XS Max and bigger screen but overall as much as I wanted to find a reason to buy it. Just didn’t seem worth it coming from an X.

For comparison I had 6 plus > 6s plus > 7 plus and those did seem worth it to me. Ram changes, camera, water resistance, etc..

Lines in Jax.. several for battery replacement it seems. Some XS in stock.
