I've seen best buy have sales for 249-299 for the 38 or 42mm for the watches. is it still worth it? i use my phone a lot and sometimes it would be nice to just glance at my wrist to see notifications. but I'm not sure if its worth the price. i wish i could try it out for a little.

knowing that for people who have thought the same. what do you think?

i do have the opportunity to get it less than retail.

I paid full price for my 42ssml. Would I pay full price if I lost it today? Hell yeah. It's invaluable to me now!

The  Watch has been a big part of my work ecosystem now. Even if isn't really useful now, notifications, changing music via the watch, having the activity app to track my progress and others made it a really good product that I probably can't live without now. If you're scared that it's too expensive, try to buy it during a sales or something. I would definitely recommend the Apple Watch

I would miss my apple watch. I didn't however buy it early on I held off three months.
If you can I would do the same & see what September brings.
cheers

They're a lot of money for what you get, but they are very cool and have benefits you didn't expect. I wouldn't hold back if you've got an opportunity at a great price. It will be useful for many years to come.

Based on todays software update I'd press the button on the 1st Gen apple watch. The speed improvement look outstanding.

Do Best Buy still have at this price? I am in the UK but have a friend who could buy and post me one!

Looks like 42mm $299

maybe your friend could check local stock availability or he could buy online for you?(free shipping over $35) JLP has them to try on & apple store here. He would have to declare value so you are insured if item was lost. Not sure how it would work re: Import duty/VAT as an import.
hope this helps

Yeah, but wOS 3 doesn't come out until this Fall, when the Apple Watch 2 is likely to launch.

My view & apples view is there won't be Gen 2 in the fall.
Can't remember the exact wording but the chap that did the demo for watchOS 3 at the conference said from autocue ''Its like a whole new watch''
He wouldn't say that if Gen 2 was launching with watchOS 3

cheers

exact wording:

.....and makes it feel like a whole new watch".

My view is that apple will refresh the watch every 2 years as its their ''most personal product yet'' so I think Summer 2017 for gen 2.

The AW is not for everyone. I have a times go back to my Fitbit. Only way to know is to buy and try as YOU are the one who has to make the choice if it is worth getting one. If you look around you can find them way cheaper than retail!

I really think we will see new AW this fall. They need it on the fall cycle so its in line with the iPhone etc. Its a perfect xmas gift and they wanna be consistent with the software/hardware thing. Thats why you have iphone always in fall now (moved from the summer)

We shall see but I don't think what happened at WWDC has any influence on no new AW based on a comment. In fact, they did address the speed issues so now its just logical to introduce new hardware that gives them more power for OS4 next WWDC. :)

I got one from the Best Buy sale last week (42mm Sport). Glad I did, especially now that I see the additional features that are coming. I used a FitBit Surge for a year, and thoroughly enjoyed it, but wanted the ability to answer texts and phone calls as well as just see them. For me, it was a worthwhile investment YMMV.

Whenever the next generation comes out, I will probably wait a while then upgrade if it appears worthwhile.

The Best Buy sale is reportedly on until June 18th.
