One other question - do Powerbook 12in slip cases fit 12in iBooks, in general? I've already bought my case :)

yes. i got a case that was designed for an iBook before 12" PB was even released and my PB fits. they are practically identical in dimension so that padding will basically fill the little difference in some space.

good luck with your decision. personally, i'm glad i got a PB - but individual decisions vary. (and mine's the rev. A - current iBook G4 is practically identical (if not slightly better!)) i went for PB a year ago because iBook had G3 back then and i knew it will be a few years, at the very least, before i buy another computer so i wanted to indulge a bit, even if it would cost a bit more.

jxyama - my dilemma would be the other way around, though; I've bought a Powerbook case, and am now wondering, if I was to switch to the iBook, would it fit? Since the iBook is about a third of an inch thicker, and all around just a tiny bit bigger.

As for wanting a computer that'll last - exactly. I'm a student, in my penultimate year of grammar (your high school) - so I need this thing to last. Hence wondering whether a loaded iBook or Powerbook will serve me better :) In any case, all your advice helped guys! :-D

peace.
