Stolen iPad (Find My iPhone)

Congrats on recovering it.

Personally, I'd turn the thief in -- letting him get away with it just encourages him go steal someone else's IMHO, and next time perhaps he'll research how you found yours and know to wipe the things or at least turn off iCloud/findmyphone. I assume we're not talking about an impulsive 6 year old but someone who knows he was stealing something valuable. Whether the school gives a warning or imposes real consequences is up to them, I just would have ensured they were aware of the theft.

You're really generous for not reporting that kid. He just stole $500+ from you. IMO, thieves need to be taught lessons by being punished because they won't stop if they get away with it. But that may cause personal conflicts for you so I'm not trying to tell you to do otherwise.

i use find my iPhone like every other week. it's usually in the couch.
 
I guess the choice to turn him in or not is your prerogative, but if you decided NOT to, I think an ass kicking is completely justified.

I would absolutely turn the guy in. Someone who would do that, it's unlikely the first such deed and unlikely to be the last. Come on OP, score one for the good guys and please don't let him get away with it.
 
I think you should report the thief,,,,,,,It could be someone else's device next time, and they may not be as lucky as you to recover it......report report report!!! Hate thieves! congrats on getting it back though!

I couldn't agree more.

It won't be your fault if he gets kicked out, it will be his own for stealing in the first place.

You need to be quick though and get it reported, I would go to the police too,
