I see they offer an AppleCare option for "Lost or Stolen" iPhones... is there a big market for "stolen" iPhones? Seems like they would be hard to steal and reuse without getting caught? Am I wrong?

I don’t think the market for stolen iPhones is quite what it used to be but stolen phones can be cannibalized for parts.

There’s still a market for “stolen” iPhones that are bought with a stolen CC number and sold on Craigslist or other BB services. Often NIB for too good of a price so the thief ends up with quick cash.

Device unlock services for iCloud locked phones and blacklisted phones (iPhone and various Android devices) are still around. I don’t know how they do it though. Just see them advertising on Craigslist when I’m just looking for a legit deal.

People just use the parts. For example why waste a whole iPhone (locked/blacklisted) when you can use its perfectly fine housing, camera, battery, buttons, display etc. It's just the logic board that can't be used.

Seems like more work than it’s worth.
