This is extremely annoying. Checking the tracking for a package purchased from newegg, shipped via UPS 3 day service, now shows

MERCHANDISE IS MISSING. UPS WILL NOTIFY THE SENDER WITH ADDITIONAL DETAILS. / ALL MERCHANDISE MISSING, EMPTY CARTON WAS DISCARDED. UPS WILL NOTIFY THE SENDER WITH DETAILS OF THE DAMAGE[X] DAMAGE REPORTED / DAMAGE CLAIM UNDER INVESTIGATION[X]

This seems to be discovered >100 miles from me, at the UPS depot, not anywhere near me.

I've contacted Newegg. The Newegg agent said he had to file a claim. It'll be 1 or 2 days to review, going through the process can take more than 2 weeks.

What is there to review? The carrier messed up. Why does it take up to 2 weeks to ship the replacement?

Anyone has any experience with such a thing?

Yea it has happen before. I had to wait for UPS to do their thing, cut the company that I placed the order with a check then they were able to ship another one to me. Took about 2-3 weeks.

cancel shipment, order again.

Yeah that would be good in most cases (will keep in mind for future, but never had this before).

Except 2 things have rebate that needs to be purchased in Sept...

Hum one rebate has to be postmarked by October 21...

Had this happen to me with a 23" Cinema Display. They're not in a brown box when shipped like most things. They ship in the ACD box for all to see with the shipping label from Apple. It some how grew little feet and walked out of a FedEx depot (how do you hide that one under your coat or in a lunch box).

I was dealing with Apple and FedEx on this one. It took me lots of phone calls to both companies, I even had to get FedEx to phone Apple. The replacement took another 5 days to arrive. The replacement process usually takes as you said 2-3 weeks.

If you need to get he things you ordered before certain dates because of rebates, I would also suggest to re-order them now, if you can and wait for your refund of the original order. Good luck

Can't you reverse the charge on the CC and let Newegg sort it out? They are a good company, at least with my interaction with the, so it would suck to put them in a bad spot. However, it seems like they should send out a new item to you and deal with the old order internally.

Chargebacks would cost newegg more money.

I had this happen with an electronics item from Amazon that was also shipped via UPS. It took one e-mail to Amazon's customer service and a replacement was shipped out overnight.

In fact, the replacement arrived the same day as the original package was set to arrive.

I was never updated as to the claim status or had to fill out any other information. Amazon took care of it. I think they even sent me a $10 gift certificate for the trouble.

I would be calling my credit card company to bring them into the fray if it took too long to be sorted out.

I agree. The carrier and the company you purchased from may go back and forth in the mean time your money is tied up. Call your CC company and have the open a dispute and they'll credit your account back for the amount of the transaction. You can then place another order. No sense tying up your money while they sort it out.

file a claim? i only buy from amazon, they shipped a package to me a few days ago and ups lost it so i called and they said they where really sorry and send me a new package overnight :)
and they gave me $5 coupon too heheheh

Looks like they've processed the claim within a day.

I called them to confirm, the person from Newegg was surprised that the claim went through that quickly, and said normally it takes 7 to 10 days. Maybe because it's a big order, or the "lost package" info came from UPS.

So far,

9/30: theft was discovered late at night
10/1: contacted Newegg
10/2: "approved", called to confirm. New package shipped late same day, scheduled to arrive Monday (agent thought the approval was fast, so it might not be their usual processing time)

Wish me luck. I have another big package coming from another retailer coming via Fedex...

The package Newegg resent arrived yesterday (they left it at the front door in plain view of the whole street).

I ordered something on the same day via ZipZoomFly. It was shipped via Fedex. The package tracking showed delivered. However, someone was at the house, and there was no such delivery nor packge. Called Fedex... They said they will call back.

I came and left the house and there was no package. However, somehow the package appeared within 45 minutes of me calling Fedex... Strange... Was a bit pissed off, but I am now just glad that nothing happened to it.

I wondered what happened to the missing time? Mis-delivered to neighbor's place? (It happened once that the package was delivered to a totally random location) Abducted by aliens? We may never know.
