Is it really that easy & quick for AMEX to refund you the money.

I wonder how many make false claims that they received an empty box?

It was instant. I called at 8:40PM and the credit was on my card when I logged onto my account at 9PM.

Do you have to show proof it was stolen? Police report?[/QUOTE]

Only had to verify the he tracking number from UPS (not sure how they already new the tracking number). Nothing else, but they did say they might ask for more information later on. I told them UPS requested me to give the box back for the investigation. Amex said they didn't need the box and to give it back to UPS.

I guess we have been lucky, we have over 1000 iPads delivered and handed out without a single empty case in 2012. I have returned two iPads to Apple because the screen was unresponsive and Apple replaced them within 3 or 4 business days.

We have not started adopting iPad mini's yet, but I'll keep an eye for theft such as yours.

Sorry for your shock, frustrations, loss and reimbursement. I love credit card companies.... well maybe just really like them.

I would laugh at you because the police typically don't care about theft under $5000 and don't do anything even if you report it.

I guess you live somewhere else because Apple just called me. Apparently UPS notified them about the stollen iPad this morning. They said not to turn in the box to UPS and instead a local police officer will come and pick up the box tonight. Apple will be doing an investigation with local police. The Apple rep said that this has been happening more and more each day. Also, they will overnight me a new iPad in time for xmas. :apple: :D
