This probably sounds trivial and obvious to most but one small thing I have noticed is the phone gets really hot if I put it on a nice soft surface such as my bed or pillow during charging as the heat will be trapped around it as opposed to on a hard surface like the table.

I didn't measure the temperature but the difference was quite noticeable and more than what I would have expected.

You have to also remember that with the new addition of wireless charging they switched to all glass front and back.
And usually the metal back also acted as a heat-sink. But Glass does not disperse CPU and other internal heat and cool down as fast as previous metal back models.
