I am getting bombarded with spam lately- even on email addresses that I have never posted anywhere online. It is unreal how much spam I'm getting. Up to five emails every minute in some cases. It's to the point I want to get rid of my email addresses. I've tried putting the links to the spammers in my blacklisted, but the domains switch nearly every email.

Now it's so bad that my spam folder traps emails from my family and people that I know, and there are so many messages it is practically impossible to weed through them all with any speed. 3200 in the box and filling.

So. Any tips on how to get rid of all these spammers? I can't stand this much longer. I don't trust my inbox anymore to separate the spam from the real messages.

Damn. Never heard of this before. Flag family as safe and set it so that spam gets cleared every x amount of days?

One address is our local company, and judging from my families similar complaints, the same thing happened to them, at roughly the same time (which makes me think that at one point our service was compromised). That email I've only used for registering on websites like facebook and here. I can get you a link if you think it would help.

The one that I get more spam from is a google based address. But I can understand getting more spam from it as I've posted it on the internet. This is the email I use to register my accounts under nowadays, and is my "throwaway" email.

The local company may have had some filter problems where they got turned off or they were doing something and messed it up. Is it still happening? You could call them and inquire about it.

The Gmail account, as you said, have posted online will get you on a bunch of lists, but Gmail has some great spam filters and usually catches a lot of it in the junk folder or prevents it from getting to your account.

I heard a statistic once, that over 96% of all email sent worldwide is spam.

Can you open the emails and unsubscribe from them? That's what I do... Have you been on any questionable sites? I know most illegal downloading/ porn sites are loaded with stuff to ruin your computer etc.

Clicking on the unsubscribe button in emails that came to you as spam, usually confirms to the spammer that your address is a valid one, and will in turn, start spamming you more.

I always recommend to people never to click the unsubscribe button unless you know for a fact the email came from a source where you know you've signed up for or purchased something from them.

Gotcha. OP, maybe you could create a new email, and go through the current, and redirect the real emails to the new one? Just close down the spamalot one..?
