how do i do this? when i sign into my iphone, the homescreen comes on then immediately dims. never happened before, so wondering if there's a setting i need to... set.... 🤔

i did go thru all of the settings options; nothing seemed to change it. i rebooted too (might try that again). it's beta 1, am honestly amazed at how everything else (so far) seems ok ☺️

Have you checked that you do not have the new "dimming" feature enabled? You can confirm this by holding down a finger on your home screen to go into jiggle mode, selecting "Edit" in the top-right corner, followed by "Customize," and then toggling the option with the Sun icon.

I do not see my home screen wallpaper become dim, but sometimes rather noticeably desaturated compared to the identical lock screen wallpaper. I hope this is only a bug, given that it seems excessive if you are using the new tinted icons.

The new home screen customization features in iOS 18.
My current lock screen with the photo rendered as intended.
My current home screen with the same photo now lacking some color. This is most noticeable in the orange on the butterfly.

it's this then: am not seeing the sun icon or the tool on the right next to 'small' and 'large' -

changed some settings (ie light, dark, tinted); went back to light icons, and dimming seems to have stopped. so all is well (for now)

Mine is doing the same thing. The lock screen wallpaper is nice and vibrant...as soon as I unlock the phone you can see the saturation/vibrancy change on the wallpaper photo. Not a huge deal...I'm sure they'll eventually fix it. I did change some of the new icon settings, but it never fixed it for me.
