Stop iPad showing cover art

Is there a way to stop the ipod app from showing me the cover art full screen whenever I change song? It's becoming really really irritating and I cannot seem to find a way to turn it off in itunes or under the app's settings.

Help?

You can upgrade to iOS 5. The iPod app was changed to "Music" and it doesn't have the full screen view.

Okay that's an idea. I have an iPad 1 tho and I heard iOS 5 removes a lot of support for gestures on the iPad 1? Right or wrong? =/
