Stop MacBook from checking SuperDrive on boot

Apologies if this is already posted.. if it has, please link me..

I'm new to the Mac and currently have a late 2007 MacBook. How do I get it to boot without checking the SuperDrive? I would like to make it boot as quietly as possible. I have already managed to get rid of the chime.
