First I do not mean disable auto launch of audio apps. I already did that. But every time I play music from my phone in the car it displays this now playing icon on watch which allows me to control music from the watch but I don’t want that. I assume it sucks down battery for no reason when I control music with the car or phone. This may not be possible but anyway to totally do away with now playing when not playing on watch? 68BB3D75-1CAC-4175-A1D6-57C91D153EB0.jpeg

I have exact same question.

freaking annoying, cause if i tap the little icon now playing pops up and I know it’s sucking down battery for no reason!!

Why do you think it’s sucking down battery? The watch uses Bluetooth LE for such operations & battery usage is negligible.

I thought that’s how it’s supposed to work. It means you don’t have to access your phone to change tracks I use the button on my steering wheel to change music and the icon on my watch doesn’t bother me one bit.
Your watch defaults as a remote for any music played from your iPhone

Cause it’s a running app

That’s exactly what I want the option for. I use my car and for a second option my phone which is easier to use in my car then my watch. You think texting and driving is bad, try watch using and driving..lol I don’t need a running app on the watch when I don’t need it. So just wondering if there was a way to stop it.

It’s not really working as an independent app. It’s more like a playback widget which automatically gets activated when your iPhone plays back content. There’s no option to disable it.

I get this all the time, the only way I could get it to go away is that I go into Apple Music and start a song and end it then close Apple Music, then the icon goes away.

huh, well that sucks. An option-disable now playing for phone playback would be nice. For in the car purposes.

so you start a song then end the song and it goes away? I sorta meant play music from phone and it not show up on watch while playing on phone.

Ah I was looking in the watch app on the phone. What happens if you delete that?!

wait, what does happen if you delete that. Cause I play music from the music app on watch and I don’t ever control music on other devices from watch.

Ok I just tried it. Deleted now playing and when I play music on the phone the icon does show up still but you can’t click on it. Obviously now playing doesn’t show up anymore when you click on the widget.

This is a different problem, and I still get it, even with WatchOS 6. Somehow the icon gets stuck.

What this thread is complaining about is that the music icon is showing up at all when the phone is playing music.

Not sure if that’s what the OP wanted or deleting that just defeats the purpose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

okay, I misunderstood, but, I believe it’s always supposed to show that media is playing since its connected to the iPhone. It’s always showed for me going back for as long as I can remember.

I was just wondering if there was a way for it not to start now playing when playing music on the phone. It seemed like it was draining battery by having the app open on the watch. But there is no way to stop it and it may not even drain battery.
