Stop Photos from opening automatically

I will be picking up my new iMac next week. I do not use Photos and plan to keep it that way. Is there some way in High Sierra to keep Photos from opening automatically when it detects a new picture? I know that you can block it from opening when specific devices are connected, but that is not my question. I am looking for something that will disable it altogether.

Hmmmm, what people have said about earlier versions, that causes problems.
I am looking for responses from people that actually know how to do it.

In Terminal write the following and then hit Enter

defaults -currentHost write com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug -bool YES

Photos will never open again for any device

If you want to allow it to open again simply enter the following into Terminal

defaults -currentHost write com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug -bool NO

That's cool, glad to help! I've had a lot of assistance here over the years, so it's just part of evening things out, I guess.

Open up Image Capture and deselect that option. When you connect your phone or camera, open Image Capture and in the corner (I think the right) and deselect that option.
