Hi all
I am new to the MAC world and trying to get used to it slowly getting there, a annoying issue I have is that I can stream TV channels from my TV box onto my laptop by logging onto the IP address, once signed in I have a list of links for TV channels, when I click on the link it automatically tries to play it in iTunes which when it does comes out all garbled noises, I have downloaded VLC player which works but is there a way to default this as the player when I click on the link as currently it still goes to iTunes and the only way round it is to drag the link into VLC which is a pain.

many thanks

When you click on the link is a file downloaded to your Mac? If so, you could "Get Info" that file and change the "Open with" application to VLC.

hello mate
yes it does download it to my downloads file, I right clicked and changed to VLC as default but when I double click on it again it comes up with "can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer", when I go to system preferences > security & privacy > General, it only says I can download from apps store and developers, I dont have the anywhere button even when I log in :\

bit of an update I still cannot get it to work :(, when I click on the link I want to watch it opens up iTunes automatically and puts the file into "internet songs" in iTunes, is there a way to stop safari using iTunes as the default media an use VLC :(

finally I have sorted it!!
rather than going
Double Tap > Open With > Other > select VLC > Always open

do this
Double Tap > Get Info > Open With > Select VLC > Click Change All

this then changes it :)
