Storage on my MacBook

I've been using the MONIT app to check my usage of RAM and storage and etc. Nowadays it seems really awkward for me. My Mac says I have 100 GB free space but MONIT says only 40 GB is free. I checked their FAQ and it says there should be cached files which apple's not showing on the storage. I tried everything and couldn't find the difference between them.

What could be the 60 GB file difference ? How can I find them ?

Do you have Time Machine turned on? If so, it is likely local snapshots using that space.

Nope. I looked at that but it was closed all the time.

Run the command below in Terminal then tell us the results. This will show the size ion GB of the base folders, including some hidden and system folders those apps won't show.

sudo du -d 1 -x -c -g /

Put a checkmark in "show invisible files".
Close preferences.

The DiskWave window shows you all your drives in plain English (no ridiculous graphical formats).
Click on any drive.
Now, you'll see what's ON the drive, listed in order of "largest to smallest".
You can easily locate what's eating up your space.

256 GB 13' Macbook. Just the standart one. I was so confused bout that either. MONTI says something and Apple says another. I will trust Apple of course but if there's something weird going on I want to know.
