About to erase my MBA before finalising the Neo. Just noticed despite having same number of photos (87,757 and 2481 videos) on both computers MBA shows size occupied for photos as 496 GB yet on Neo it is only 24.95 GB. I don't remember compressing any photos on Nei any idea what's up here /

When you first transfer photos over, it is just a preview version, not all the originals, it will start downloading those in the background over the next few days. But obviously its going to warn you that you're out of space and opt to optimize them
Sounds like Photos > Settings on the Neo has “Optimise” set and the MBA has “download Originals”, but as @Zapdoc
Says there wont be room for all 496GB so it will download full size for some. If Optimise is already set it will increase steadily to leave some unspecified amount of free space. There are no controls in Photos for which are downloaded full size or how much space they use…..one of the biggest drawbacks to Photos compared to its direct competitor Lightroom (Cloudy not Classic).
