So basically I didn't have much space left anymore on my MacBook so I've decided to move all my desktop/downloads/documents files to an external portable ssd. After doing so it seemed it first downloaded some files from iCloud first and then transfer it to the SSD as not all files were on my MacBook directly.

So after all transfers were done, I've deleted all files that I transferred on my MacBook and also Emptied the Bin... But however I still see the same available storage space.. How is this possible? I can see in the coloured stats that Documents have been reduced but overall it's still showing 20gb available? I've transferred around +50GB worth of files to the SSD..

For the record, I don't have Time Machine / Backups enabled.

If someone has a solution to this, let me know please as I've already searched this up and no one seems to have had fixed this issue.

I found out about something related to library folder and opening hidden files with CMD + SHIFT + ( . ) but this shortcut has not worked for me not even with using (fn) key.. I've tried this via the MacBook intern keyboard and also via the extern.

I've also tried opening Time Machine (this was always turned off) I've enabled it and selected a disk then I've disabled it and deleted the disk.. trying this has not worked either..

This is what I see on Disk Utility btw

I had this same experience on Mohave, although I don't use iCloud at all. I moved about 60 gigs of files to an external drive and then deleted them from the MBP. But the space didn't open up on the MBP. I asked here, a lot of theories but no real answer. After using the MBP for about three days I noticed that I suddenly had that free space. I attibuted it to another Apple mumbo jumbo background system annoyance. When I delete files from my computer I expect to see the free space appear immediately!
