So when do online in store pickup orders go live.? Is it all pacific time is it based on region. I have one on order but its a Dec 9th delivery date so if I can snipe an in store pickup order I would do that.

Any ideas?

I would like to know this too.

Also does the stock held in store match the base models online, or might they have a few in higher spec?

Me too. Don't see anything right now, where I think you could plan pick for the iPhone 13 a few days in advance. Maybe it will all come live on October 26th when the stores open? I know that I was checking daily for store availability for stuff before.

I just need to know when to be online is it midnight tonight any specific time zone? Or tomorrow am?

I’m in Canada and Apple Store inventory for pick up orders usually become avaible for purchase online approximatively 1h before the opening of the stores. I can’t say for sure if it’s the same everywhere on the globe.

I’m hearing as early as 5am PT for store inventory to show up. 12am could be possible too. I’d say wake up early and keep refreshing.

In store inventory will probably be the stock configs. 14” base and 16” base will most likely have the most available stock. I’d assume that the $3499 16” will be the one that’s a little more limited. However, since that’s the only base config 16” with the M1 Max, I think they will make sure enough are available in store. Might be limited to certain stores though.

Looking back at when I managed to score an apparently rare set of Airpods Max on launch day (just happened to look at the Apple site and saw it was available for ordering with in-store pickup that day), I placed my order at a few minutes past 7am. I THINK the store opens at 9am.

And the only real in store inventory clue is if its available or not available for in store pickup

"Pickup:Apple Store Pickup is currently unavailable"

I assume no other way to tell then build and check that value?

I just called my local apple store - told them I would be coming from over an hour away tomorrow to get a new macbook pro.

1. They said I should be able to get one if I’m there first thing
2. There are no rules for lining up
3. They aren’t sure of shipment, but I shouldn’t have any issues
4. Last thing they said was have fun tomorrow

I guess so. It's been mentioned before that sometimes they'll have a non-standard "BTO" configuration in stock (and I bought a MBP several years ago that way), but it looks like there's no way to simply have them list what they have in stock, you need to select the options and observe the in-store pickup indication.

I would think they need to reserve some for people at the store otherwise people sitting home first thing will buy the store out. If they have my spec I will wonder why I have a Dec 9 - 15th delivery date

Then again, I just went on the Apple site and cycled through the various configurations of the already-available 13" MBP, and only the stock configurations showed as being available for pickup.

Apple Stores only stock base configuration models
In the beginning, yes, that is true, but often later on they will start also stocking a mid-range one which had formerly been BTO only. For instance, last December I was able to purchase a 13" M1 with 1TB SSD and 16 GB RAM; earlier that configuration would have been available only through ordering online BTO.

They won’t reserve much for walk-ins vs. morning reservations; the online system usually lets people reserve up to the total stock they have till it’s yellow in their system (like five and under left), so basically, if the online site is showing unavailable, there’s a chance the store might have a couple left.

edit: should point out with higher value items like MBPs, sometimes even for online reservation, they have stock well into the afternoon

I was able to purchase a 13 M1 Pro 1tb / 16 in store on launch day last November.

This is NOT true. They have often stocked other 'Ultimate' configs which were in the past the highest-end configs available, but with how ridiculously high-end you can go now they may be more towards the middle of the spectrum.
