Store inventory and how that works

Must be location dependent. In my area, I've never seen them stocked (or I admit maybe they sell out of the higher end configs).
 
Hmm. Anyone been able to get some insider info from their local apple stores on when in store pickups are available online?

how did you get to speak to someone in the store. When I call the number I get transferred to the people in India.

No - I just told them that I would be coming tomorrow to get one of the new macbook pros - and they were excited and said see you then and told me I was welcome to line up early. However, it will be raining.
 
Maybe place an order online early tomorrow morning to make sure you can grab one. Then again maybe you’ll be fine, maybe these won’t sell out that fast

I will be checking the website - but I also have a shopping with a specialist appointment as soon as they open as well.

Around 5.45 it was.

Nothing obvious, I was clicking around the website when I noticed suddenly instead of “not available” it said “Available at Apple Norwich”

maybe, but I was awake (well, pre coffee) and clicking around the site at 5.30 and I didn't notice it.

However please don't let me be the reason for you missing out. I would recommend 5am and check. Even if you just check then go back to sleep for a bit.

Also for what its worth I added a config to my bag in the app, then when I loaded in it changed to available for pickup so made it nice and easy

I just dug around old emails and found that I ordered m1 iPad Pro at 5:05am local.. so perhaps the same will hold true.

And yes! So I have several options loaded in my bag now (ones that I’m hearing are available in store).. 16 in only. Can you confirm if any of these were available at some point?

16in, 32gb ram 1tb m1 max (base 16)

16in, 64gb ram 2tb m1 max

16in, 64gb ram 4tb m1 max

First and last one were available yes
 
7:52am EST for Newark, Delaware, USA 19713. I didn't look too closely, but they had all 5 base stock models for in-store pickup

Got mine reserved. But the webpage says I can’t do the trade in at the store and must ship it in?
