Anyone know if it is possible to store an iTunes library on an SD card, and swap this between Mac and Windows laptops?

Yes it is but sdcards are not designed to be written to and accessed that much you would kill it in no time! Better to use a 2.5" hdd

SD Cards have a finite number of writes, but with iTunes its mostly reading I'd think it would be OK.
