Does anyone store their media on iCloud?

I have a bunch of movies, tv-shows, and audiobooks that are taking space up on my mac. So, I'm considering upgrading my current 50GB iCloud storage plan, in order to put all my media over there and watch from there whenever I feel like it. Is that a good idea, and what has people's experience been with it?

Yeah it works fine but not exactly pretty like it would be running from the TV app or photos.

all my movies are bought via iTunes so i just stream from there.

family vids i keep in the apple photos app and that works fine.. i suppose you could do that with yours?

It doesn't exactly work that way. You can definitely offload these files to the cloud, but you will need to re-download them (and have the storage space locally) in order to watch them. You can't watch them directly from iCloud.

oops I forgot about that! I remember it being a pain!

I guess I could live with temporary downloading media onto my SDD when I wanna watch/listen to it.
So, If I bought an Apple TV, I wouldn't be able to watch my personal movies through the cloud on it? I've always thought about it.

No - but if you put your personal movies in the photos app then that will play on the photos app on the Apple TV. That’s how I’ve done mine.
