Virgin Mobile has them beat.

For $30 a month*, you get unlimited** (2.5 GB throttle) data and text, and 300 minutes voice. Activating tethering is an extra $10 a month, I believe. (It's free if you have an Android and the right app, like I had before my 4s - my only complaint with switching.) They run on the Sprint network, so YMMV with service.

* $35 a month if you don't give them a CC to auto-bill

Not really.

It's sprint so data is slow. GSM has better data speeds over 3g especially with hspa+.

T-Mobile 's 4g is even faster than their faux G aka hspa+.

This phone will most likely run on verizons prepaid nonroaming network 3g only. If you want Straight Talk buy the BYOD sim for ATT you get postpaid coverage and LTE and have an iPhone with a higher resale also after ios 7.0.4 MMS and data work without editing the APN settings.

StraightTalk has been out-Walmarted by MetroPCS, which offers a $40/month prepaid bring-your-phone plan (*including tax*, whereas the $45/month StraightTalk price does not include tax) unlimited plan (throttling above 500MB). A much better deal, if you have a T-mobile compatible phone.

No tax on StraightTalk if you buy the refills at Walmart. Plus you can sometimes find the $45 cards for as low as $37 on ebay. Much better deal for 5x the data and better coverage.

I ended up just going with T-Mobile plan for 70 dollars. Unlimited everything and zero throttling.

Last month I used just over 5 GB of data, zero throttling.

Throttling above 500MB!? That's a horrible deal!

It all depends on the throttling. AT&T-style throttling, I would agree with you. MetroPCS throttling, at least for now, is so mild that I can't tell the difference.
If you want more guaranteed speed, you can go $50/month for 2.5GB at guaranteed LTE speeds, or unlimited for $60/month.
Therefore, it's a very, very sweet deal.

Tracfone Promo Codes and Tracfone Smart Phones

Tracfone, Straight Talk, and Net10 Promo Codes and Tracfone Smart Phones

Will the tracfone, Straight Talk, and Net10 promocodes still be needed for the smart phones.

I think they will still be needed for the lower plans. The ones that are not Unlimited.

Anyways its just a thought I had on the topic.
Thanks Anthony

DO NOT buy a phone at Walmart.

It took me THREE HOURS to purchase an iPhone 5S this weekend. It was for their $75 gift card promotion that went from Black Friday through December 7.

It's a long story. But yes, it took 3 hours to buy a phone at Walmart. Never again...regardless of the deal.

I work at Walmart and it certainly doesn't take three hours to activate a phone. You must have some dimwitted associates at your Walmart.

Reverse question

The phones you buy directly from Wal-Mart have no SIM and use Verizon's network. However, if you order a Straight Talk SIM card to use with your own phone, it will use AT&T's network.

So you can have an iPhone on Straight Talk using either Verizon or AT&T's network, your choice.

I am on TMo now and want a 5s for my son. He's on a family plan for $10/mo and just wants to upgrade. Since there is no Apple store in my area, I want to buy one from WalMart and plug the Tmo sim in it. Will this just be seamless?
  • pick up in store
  • Put Tmo sim in it
  • Start using phone

I could try a Tmo store nearby but they do not open until late Sunday and they may not have the one I want (Walmart has it in stock).

Many thanks, I could not find the answer anywhere!

Could you please take a look at the back of your iphone 5s that was bought at walmart and tell me what's the model number?

Visual Voicemail?

Can anybody confirm wether or not the iPhone 5s sold by straight talk has visual voicemail support? It is supported on the iphone 5 they sold that worked on Verizon, but this one is on AT&T. Considering this comes with a nano sim, which they do not sell on their website it may be they support VVM on this?

no need to do this any more, IOS 7.3 took care of this, the settings are automatic now

I didn't know that. I just sent a trial MMS and it worked! Thanks.

I've been with ST for a year and a half and it's ok but I'd like to switch to T Mo but because I have a 4s, it doesn't make sense. I'll probably get a new phone this fall when Apple comes out with the successor to the 5s and switch to T Mo then.
