I found a new iPhone 5s at Walmart that I think would be a great gift for a friend of mine. The problem is they use Net10 as their carrier. Does anyone know if the 5s will work for Net10 right out of the box, or if there is some other option to unlock the phone for use on Net10?

I believe it will as they are all part of the same family of tracfone. I have read on Howard Forums under the Straight Talk forum that it had been done so check over there. I use a 5s on Straight Talk but have not personally tried it myself.

Why not just buy a 5S AT&T prepaid phone from BestBuy or AT&T. Then you know it will work on Net10. I've never had an issue using a att device with a Net10 SIM card. Just a thought.

For me the deal was buy a new 5s for $150 and use straight talk for a year then they would unlock it so that may be his reason. I have used the ST talk sim in other unlocked phones and it does work fine.
