Strange! After 1.1.1, I can't make outgoing calls

Very strange error here.. After upgrading to the 1.1.1 update, I can no longer make outgoing calls. The phone says it is calling the person, but eventually times out and says "Call Failed."

I can receive calls OK, just can't make them.

Anyone else run into this issue?

Ok -- edge does work, I can call my voice mail box, but any other phone number that I try to dial ends up in a Call Failed.

I'll try calling AT&T and see what they say.

crap, i'm having the same problem too.

i made a few calls after i upgraded though, so maybe 1.1.1 isn't the issue here?

I had an issue earlier today where I got an incoming call but then couldn't hang up. Everything else worked but it continued to say call in progress yet i couldn't do anything on the phone screen.

Finally power off and back on fixed it.

Yeah -- I am on the phone with AT&T right now.. They had me turn it off, then back on, and it's still not making outbound calls. 🙁

I'm being transferred to their technical support department.. Will let you all know what the outcome is.

i was able to call 611 on it, but that doens't really help, does it?

i'm calling customer support too.

while holding, i shut the iphone off and let it sit for a few minutes. after i powered it up again, it seems to be able to make outgoing calls.

Ok, got off the phone with technical support. They had me do a hard reset of the phone, and it appears to be working now (I have to resync all of my iTunes stuff, but that's ok).

Anyway, FYI.

After reading this thread, I got scared because I just got my iPhone yesterday and hadn't tried making an outgoing call after upgrading to 1.1.1.

When I try to call from my house, it doesn't work because there's no reception there, but I just tried a call from a spot of reception and it worked perfectly. I do have a problem sending out emails from the iPhone's mail program though. I can recieve mail, but I can't send it.
