Hey everyone, I've got an issue that my google fu has not been able to fully answer. I bought a used iphone Xs off swappa recently, and weeks after receiving it I noticed that the screen glass definitely has some discrepancies from a normal OEM iphone. There is a pattern / grid of circular bumps across the glass of the screen.

Is this due to the screen being a 3rd party replacement or is this just what an Iphone Xs looks like with the oleophobic coating removed?

I'd say that's not the original Apple display.. Even if the coating was damaged it shouldn't feel bumpy. If you bought it off Swappa, you must of used Paypal so contact the seller and tell them your not happy with the device. If you weren't aware of the defect before you purchased it, you can initiate a dispute and get your money back. If you did know about the repair, ifixit sells a replacement oled display that comes with the seal and tools to replace the display for a reasonable price.

If it residue from a covering or screen protector, try cleaning it lighter fluid, which is the universal solvent for rubber cement. Lighter fluid will not hurt finishes, I have used it for 50 years to remove labels and stickers without ever hurting a finish. Squirt some a soft rag and try it.
