I successfully cloned my hard drive and i am able to boot from the external hard drive, but now when i run CCC while booted from the external it crashes every time obviously making it impossible to clone it back to my blank hard drive. Ive tried deleted and reinstalling CCC multiple times.

when i put my original hard drive back in i can run CCC no problem and if I'm booted off my original hard drive i can even run CCC off the external but when i boot off the external it will not run

under further review every app crashed when I'm booted from the clone, maybe it was just a bad clone? although it lets me boot off it maybe all the app folder was not copied good?

ill have to retry

Why not drop a line at http://help.bombich.com? Or choose "Ask a question" from CCC's Help menu. You'll get help directly from CCC's developer (me).

Mike

hey Mike thanks for the reply, I put my original internal HD back in formatted my external and re-cloned, and everything worked fine the 2nd time, I was now able to open all applications while booted off the clone.

I also was able to restore to the new internal no problems

Silly on my part to not test opening things when booted off the external, OSX loaded fine so i just assumed the whole clone was successful

For some reason you got a bad clone. More then likely a bad drive???

Try it one more time and see if it happens again.
