I am getting emails on my iPhone that are very strange. The description reads as no sender, no subject, and the message has no content. The date sent shows as 12/31/69. When I tap to read it stays highlighted blue. I am synchronized with my Gmail via IMAP and these messages do not show in my Gmail.

Does anyone know where these may be coming from, how to stop them, and how to delete them?

I have actually gotten a few of those as well. They usually disappear eventually. I got a few empty dated 12/31/00 today. Again they disappeared later. I was going to go to the genius bar but they always disappear by the time I make an appointment. Oh well. I will just deal with it until I get the iPhone 4.

Edit: Oh I am also synchronized with my Gmail via IMAP and they don't show on my Mac.

I'm having the same problem, once in a while it will happen. You can exit the app bring up app switching bar and kill the mail, and it will temporarily fix the problem, but I do hope apple will fix this.

I have MobileMe so I think it's just some weird mail software issue.

Same thing here. Was unable to even delete the emails but they eventually disappeared. I'm not on gmail but am on mobile.me so that may be the source. Haven't seen them in a week or so though.

I believe it is a bug with how mail handles multitasking. The next time you receive one of those weird emails, double click the home button and shut down mail in the multitasking tray. This should get rid of the emails from 1969.

Exit the grouped email inbox and go to the individual account inboxes and you 1) will be able to delete the mystery emails or 2) they'll disappear.

You can then return to the grouped inbox & should be okay.
