strange ibook G4 issues

OK. So my ibook will not charge when it's closed and sleeping. If I put the computer to sleep by closing it, then plug it in, the apple lights up and it is now awake. Also, the power supply is green, even if there's no charge at all. I ran a hardware test but nothing turned up. Any ideas?
