Right-click on a .zip file, Get Info, see what it shows under Open With:

I think what GGJstudios wants to know is whether it shows "Archive Utility" under Open With.

Exactly. The icon doesn't show up under "Open With". What application name is shown?

Sorry! It shows, "Archive Utility (default)"

You might try changing the Open With: to another application (be sure to click "Change All"), then changing it back to Archive Utility.
