I’ve been having an issue lately that is very frustrating.

If my AppleTV 4K has been sleeping for a while, let’s say overnight, and I wake it up my Sony TV will turn on from the HDMI-CEC signal but it says “no signal”. The only way I can get it to work is to unplug the HDMI cable from the ATV4K and plug it back in. Has anyone had the same issue?

I don't have exactly the same issue, but I have noticed that sometimes after coming out of sleep, it gets stuck in 720p HD mode, and I have to unplug the cable and plug it back in to get 4K again. This is with my Vizio P50-C1 and the new Belkin Ultra High Speed HDMI cable that Apple recommends. I am going to try a different cable to see if I still have the same issues.

Please let me know if that works because I have the same cable. My old ATV and PS4 Pro don't have this problem so it must be the ATV4K.

Same issue with the 4K Apple TV ‘forgetting’ the resolution after the display had been turned back on after being off. Ironically my current setup involves a 1080p display.

That's odd too. I wonder if it has to do with HDMI-CEC and if switching that off would help. I might give Apple a call tonight to see if I can take care of it.

I had an odd issue today, waking from sleep where the Apple TV would wake and then sleep, and constantly cycle. I couldn't break it using the remote. Disconnecting the power cable and then back in fixed it. If it happens again I'll try the HDMI cable.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one having issues.

I too am having issues after sleep mode.

My TV says "no source signal". I press the ATV remote and a light blinks on the ATV, so I think it is receiving a signal and is on.

I have to power off and back on.

Could it be something with the 4k/HDR modes not being set right for my TV after sleep?

My tv says no signal when it’s been asleep for a while. I normally press the menu button when it shows that and it turns on after a few seconds.

Same issue here. Apple TV wakes up but doesn’t turn on TV and sound bar. When I manually turn on the TV it says no signal even though the light on the the Apple TV is on. The only way to get it to work is to unplug the Apple TV and plug it back.

This just started a couple of days ago and happens intermittently.

i had to physically unplug the power to get it working again

turned sleep off , not like it's noisy or has a bright light

Adding my name to the list of people having this problem.

It started from the first time I plugged in, suddenly the screen went black and eventually came back (I started a thread about it on here). A couple of times since I have gone to use it and the TV doesn't appear to recognise that the ATV is plugged in, even though the light on the ATV is on and seems to be receiving signal from the remote. I've resorted to unplugging cables and plugging them back in and have been able to get the picture back again, but it is really annoying!

I am still having the issue. I got another HDMI that is 4K HDR compatible. No luck.

I turned off HDR in ATV settings. No luck.

You can press the "MENU" and "TV" buttons simultaneously for a few seconds. The ATV remote light will start flashing and the ATV does some kind of reboot and that seems to work. Kind of sucks tho.

I have a return/replace setup with Apple. Unfortunately, a replacement is 4-5 weeks delivery. And not sure if it is really a HW issue.

Mine does this too. Is it the Apple TV or some compatibility issue with my 4K TV? It only happens if I’m on 4K HDR 60hz which my TV supports.

I’m surprised they haven’t released any updates yet.

Suggestion re the Sony. Have you gone into HDMI settings on the TV, and changed the HDMI port you are connecting the ATV to “enhanced signal?” I have a Sony 930d. When I first connected my ATV I forgot to do this and ran into a no signal and forgetting HDR settings. Since changing to enhanced, I haven’t experienced these issues. Double check. Hope this helps.

Yes it set to enhanced signal.

I’m having the same issue but with the ATV 4th gen. Ever since I updated tvOS 2 weeks ago. Tried two different HDMI chords and did a hard reset. Still happens every other day.

I think HDMI-CEC is broken in tvOS 11. Mine stays enabled until first sleep and from then on I only see aTV on CEC only after a full reboot. Until next sleep, that is.

I am having the same issue on my AppleTV 4k, after sleep when it wakes up my AV receiver sees no signal over the HDMI 2.2 / CEC cable. I've been resolving it by power cycling the AppleTV but I'll try pulling and replugging the HDMI as some you have found works. My other two 4th gen AppleTVs running 11.0 are fine, its just the new 4k one (set to 1080p until I get my 4k/HDR tv next month).
