Drive still accepts and ejects discs as usual. Problem happens with all kinds of discs, CDs and DVDs.

I even tried replacing the drive with a brand new one, still nothing showing in finder.

Rrggr. What gives?

Does it show up in Disk Utility?

Have you looked at Finder Preferences?

Yes, it is recognized in disk utility. I do have the CD/DVD box checked in Finder Preferences too.

I have the same pb, did you resolve it?

Hi I have a MacBook a friend gave me. It runs very well, I upgraded it to 10.6.8 and even changed the memory and processor to give it a quick and that is enough for me.

However ther is a dvd disk that work on it that just stopped working. Can't place any installation or anything at the time of change. And it was before I upgraded it.

It shows in disk utility and profiler and I have checked finder's preferences to make sure the cd&DVD is ticked and the options in System preferences is NOT to ignore but to ask what to do. But the disk doesn't show in Finder or the desktop.

When I put a dvd or cd it takes it, seems to be reading it but spits it out after and the cd or dvd never appears anywhere.

I have not found any help on the subject, can you?

The stuff I have in System Profiler is:
MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857E:
