Hi all, noticed while out in the sun that there are strange bumps on my s3 Watch screen

They are under the glass on the actual screen, is this normal?

I’ve attached a pic

Thanks

Ok thanks, from what I’ve seen not all have them, I have spoken to an Apple rep on live chat and sent photos and have been told they shouldn’t be there and to send it in

Not sure now?

It’s just a manufacturing tendency with the display, but if Apple decides to replace it, it still could be there on the next Series 3 they replace for you. It’s nothing to be concerned with, as it doesn’t affect the display or the watch itself.

Wish you good luck as I would rather put up with the humps in sunlight than have a good watch I have worn since new, replaced with a refurbished unit.

Are refurbished watches not as good ?
They are. The member is making false claims, nothing new there.

How so? Please elaborate since the outer shell and screen are replaced on refurbs as stated on Apple’s website. Stop with the unfounded claims that only you believe are true.

As @Defender2010 mentioned, Apple’s refurbished units are excellent. You’re less likely to experience hardware issues with a refurbished unit versus new, as Apple puts the watch through a series of diagnostic tests, replaces the display and even battery (Assuming it’s over an 80% threshold.) Plus, _All_ Apple watches include a one-year warranty. You can’t go wrong.

Thanks for the replies, my iPhone X I’m using right now is a replacement from Apple and it’s flawless, if the watches are of the same standard I’ll be more than happy :)

Is it normal that AW6 44mm has even more of these lumps? Kind of retangular pattern more or less.
My AW3 had less.

My S3, 5 & 6 all had this (SS models and the 5 is an Apple refurb). It’s just part of the manufacturing process and seems random as to where on the screen it appears. It’s nothing to worry about.

There should be a sticky about this as it comes up quite often.

Thanks. Can you confirm AW6 actually has more of the lumps than AW3?

Because there are few noticeable lumps in my AW3 but it is more like covered with slight waves, very much like how OLED TV surface looks like from the angle. In my AW6 there is more these lumps and less wavy pattern. These lumps in my AW6 look like there is retangular pattern (around half the size of the actual screen) in around middle of the screen if looking carefully. It is depending a lot of light where I look at it but definitely more noticeable in the same conditions than my AW3 was.

It’s irrelevant because it has nothing to do with which series of watch you have. I had two S3 and one had more than the other and in different places. It’s all random, I doubt no two are alike unfortunately.

It only shows up when the screen is black and under direct bright light, so I never see it unless I look for it. I actually forget it’s there until a thread like this pops up.

I guess your are right. I just meant that in AW6 the lumps pattern looks like rectangle, as if something was pressing in it underneath so to speak. But I guess it is normal as I saw somewhere a bit similar photo posted about AW6.

Actually looking very carefully the locations where I know the lumps are, I can make out some of them by scrolling something say email with certain colors over those spots, but again when actually looking at the on certain angle.

I really wouldn’t worry too much. You could swap it for another and that one could be worse. On mine they’ve all been random and mostly round circles, almost like dimples.

Curious to know what causes it though!

OK. In mine those lumps form that rectangular pattern which was odd but I guess not worth replacing.
Our 40mm has almost none. Mine is 44mm.

Yeah. I understood it is some sort of glue the front glass in attached with that makes these.

I found couple discussions where are exactly similar lumps in identical pattern as in my AW6 44mm

Based on these, they are I guess "normal". But definitely more noticeable than my AW3 had or AW6 40mm another family member has (it has almost no lumps and definitely not in a pattern like this).
