I’ve recently switch from the series 1 to series 4 and I am noticing a strange notification badge that I can’t seem to make go away.

Every time I raise to wake I am use to a little red dot telling me that I have notifications. But as of the past day or two. I keep seeing the walkie talkie as well as the “now playing” icon show in the where the notification dot is.

Like in the attached photo. The circled now playing icon is always there, no matter what watchface I change it to.

Is this a new feature, glitch or is this normal?

It means you are playing audio on your phone. You can tap it to control the audio.

The strange part is nothing is open on my phone. Tried to close everything and it still appears.

It’s because you have paused audio midway. This dot reminds you that you can get back to finish it. If you use AirPods simply put all AirPods in the case will make the dot goes away.

I haven't seen it persist for paused audio unless it glitches out which is a little bug I notice even after I've closed all apps and yet the notifier persists. To clear that issue I have to close all the apps, play audio from any source and then pause that audio for it to go away. I have tried tapping it to bring up the controls to press play but no music/audio starts playing from my iPhone. I have already reported it to Apple late September as a bug with WatchOS 5 but they haven't given any updates to me about it.
