Strange problem with Contacts

Whenever I open Contacts it always opens at one particular contact, and then reverts to the contact list. I have deleted the contact in question and it now doesn't appear in my contacts list, but the app still opens with that contact showing both telephone numbers before reverting to the normal contact list.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Any ideas how to fix this?

Unsync you contacts and resync them back. If that doesn't work try restoring the iPhone and setting up as new. That should clear any wrong or mismatched settings.

Thanks for these suggestions. I've tried the unsync/sync but to no avail and I'm not sure that I want to go through a full restore as I have a number of <cough, cough> non App Store apps which would then all have to be reinstalled. All very odd, nevertheless.
