hey guys,
I have a late 2013 Air, bought it about 2 months ago. It has worked flawlessly until today...

long story short, it experienced a short fall (about 2 feet or less), while in the case and inside a padded bag no less. After this, there was a few dark blotches on the bottom right of the screen. It sucked, but I could live with that. However, about 8 hours later, after using it for most of the day, it suddenly shut off without warning. I held the power button and it started back up.

interestingly, the blackness on the screen was gone. However, I had to leave to help my wife. Returned about 10 mins later and it was off again and hasnt booted, flickered or so much as beeped since. I tried every reset and trick I could find including SMC etc. The battery was around 80% before it quit, so I know it's not dead.. it didn't get wet or anything like that... I seriously can't believe this all happened in one day.

plus, since the shell is dented from the drop, based on what I've read, it sounds like apple wont be able to help me out.. I have Geek Squad three year warranty, but I'm leery of dealing with them...

any thoughts?

It's still under warranty, so I'd take it to an Apple store or an Apple authorized service center for diagnosis.

If it were my laptop...

hey guys,

you should have gotten the AppleCare instead of Geek Squad(best buy right?) ... but since you are still within the 1 year apple warranty, I suggest you go straight to apple (if you have one near you) or any apple authorized service center.

believe it or not bby (Best Buy) aka worst buy lol... i remember one of the employees telling customers that their service plans cover accidental damages. If your credit card company doesn't offer you a warranty than your last option is going to Geek Squad. I also wonder if you can buy your apple care right now and try to use it, but than again you have a dent on your laptop so i am not sure if that will be covered under the apple care.

best buy simply sends it to apple.
