Hi,

Today a strange Finder problem appeared on my iMac G5 running OS X 10.4.9!
Suddenly, without a reason there are Authentication problems, that shouldn't be there because I'm the Admin and authenticate at login!!!
Moving files from my external harddrive to the desktop causes the same problems!
For example, if I try to move a file from a folder on the Desktop to the Desktop itself, an Error message pops up and I have to authenticate again!
Furthermore, if I take a screenshot with grab or simply drag and drop a picture form the internet/safari to the Desktop, it doesn't appear at all?!

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the permissions have been changed on your desktop so you no longer have write access. What i would suggest doing is open your home folder and get info (command-i) for the desktop folder and see if you have read and write access.

Also try repairing disks permissions from Disk Utility to see if that finds anything.
