Simplicated

Hello,

Recently my Mac is behaving strangely. It sometimes emits the puff of smoke sound (the one when you are removing icons from the dock) that I don't know where does it come from.

I am using a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.5.6.

Thanks for your help.

It's just the sound to go with the animation of an icon disappearing into smoke when removed from the dock.

I believe the OP is telling us. That his mac is randomly generating this noise.
Are you accidentally removing app icons by mistake?

No I didn't remove icons from the dock. It just randomly generates it.

It just happened to me again. I am now running:
- Safari 4 Beta
- iCal
- Preview
- iChat
- Photoshop CS4
😕😕😕

Quitted iChat, and the sound is still emitting.

EDIT: I just found I have turned off the "buddy becomes unavailable" sound some time ago I forgot. In fact, other sounds from iChat are turned off, too. So, not related to iChat. Thank you for helping me.
