I am loving my new iphone x , and faceid is working amazingly for me , sofar .. specially for apple pay.

quick question I have noticed on youtube videos some iphone have little purple light flashing from both corners of the notch, my phone doesn't do that ? is this on-off feature? I have used my faceid for almost every function and haven't noticed the little purple light flashing.

any thoughts?

Probably the video camera they are using to capture the video is sensitive to IR light, your eye isn't.

The light is the Face ID infrared module that throws light on your face for it to be scanned. Humans can’t see this type of light but the camera recording it can a bit and that’s what your seeing. There are a few videos on you tube using IR cameras where you can see how the IR works exactly
