HI,

I have had a Mac for two years, it is a MBP with an intel duo core 2gb with 160 GB hard drive.

I wanted a good laptop, I paid huge dollars but it is SOOOO worth it. I completely avoid all the emotional trauma and stress from working within a windows environment, and that doesn't include the down time windows owners and users suffer from.

I download a huge amount of stuff, I love images and work with programs like Adobe photoshop. I am an app collector, if I think I might use something I download it, when I download it is primarily from these sites:

http://download.cnet.com
http://www.opensourcemac.org/
http://www.macupdate.com
http://sourceforge.net/
http://www.freemacware.com/
http://www.versiontracker.com/

http://www.gutenberg.org/
and some free ebooks sites a couple of times a year.

I have ClamXav, Little Snitch, I use the download the folder Cerberius ( http://download.cnet.com/Cerberius/3000-2072_4-93258.html )

Sadly, work hasn't realized the benefits of Mac and they use all Windows, so I do have to also download programs for Windows. For those I try to stick to http://download.cnet.com, but don't always. sometimes its, http://www.softpedia.com/ or http://majorgeeks.com/.

I do scan regularly because of the Windows programs. The last time I run ClamXav, it found nothing. Work won't pay for programs other then the basic windows office, 1997. Cheap huh? I am always looking for freeware programs to make work life a bit easier for myself and others, and each new task or assignment is given, I usually have to start searching for more programs.

Now that you more or less know my habits, this is what happened:

I was typing in Pages'08 and all of a sudden, my mouse jumped from the tool box to the centre of the page, and the the Cerberius folder opened up, and it started activating/opening and installing all of the Mac Apps (.unzipping and then opening the .dmg's) I have in that folder, which totals more then a hundred. I also have Windows' .exe in that folder. When I say it started opening and activating, and installing them, it was like watching a mad pop up generator, window after window in nano seconds. In the time it took me to react, more then 12 apps had installed.

I shut the computer down by holding the power button.

When I restarted, I noticed the installed apps, and I uninstalled, them, I also noticed that the files in the Cerberius folder had duplicated or even made triples of the files. The finder showed almost 600 files in the folder, and when I deleted all of them (duplicates and triplicates), then emptied the trash, the space on the hard drive should have increased instead it decreased.

I have appcleaner on the Mac.

I restarted the Mac, and noticed that the space on the hard drive increased but not as much as it should have.

I also use Firefox, and it is highly customized, I also use a lot of tabs, at any one time, I can have anywhere from 12 - 25 tabs open. I noticed that after all of this happened, I could have my mouse on any one of the tabs and it will move on its own to the centre of the web page.

Does anyone have any ideas on what may have happened?

Thanks!

:)

I should also have added, that I have Tiger, another in the house had Leopard. He would often send me files via bluetooth file transfer.

Now I can't receive any files.

I now get the beach ball almost every time I have more then three apps open.

Thanks!

:)
